Vertical Lift Gate Safety
Vertical lift gates provide secure, space-efficient access—but their motion introduces entrapment risks. Hazards can occur at the bottom leading edge as the gate descends, or if applicable, the top edge if the structure creates an overhead entrapment zone. Miller Edge offers rugged, UL 325-recognized sensing edges and photo optics designed specifically for vertical motion. Our solutions help installers meet safety standards across commercial, industrial, and parking environments.

Sensing Edges
Target safeguarding of entrapment and hazard zones created by the open and close cycles of an automated vehicular gate with a Miller Edge sensing edge. Custom configured for length, wire outlet location, and the monitoring method required by the gate operator. Assemble-in-the-field sensing edges are a cost-effective option that can be configured at the job site. Mounting channels and wireless edge systems are available to accommodate any gate installation.
Photo Optics
When optimally positioned, Miller Edge photo optics provide non-contact safeguarding of entrapment zones created by the open and close cycles of an automated vehicular gate.
Gate illustrations show common product placement locations to consider when protecting entrapment zones, however each installation is unique and must comply with certain safety standards and local codes. Be sure to consider all potential safety hazards and incorporate appropriate Miller Edge guarding into your overall gate design. Please read your gate operator’s manual and follow manufacturer’s requirements.
